Woman II Woman to Sovereign Women Speak

Hi. My name is Amie Ichikawa. I recently founded the non profit organization Woman II Woman inc. We are a service and a community for incarcerated women, created by formerly incarcerated women.

This August, Sovereign Women, a new grass roots movement dedicated to centering women, is hosting their first SOVEREIGN WOMEN SPEAK conference in Washington state. They chose Washington to hold the first event not only because it is their home but more importantly because recently in Washington state, the policy of allowing biological men who say they are women into women's prisons has resulted in rape.

We at Woman II Woman inc., being formerly incarcerated, are very close to this, and are fighting the same issue in California. The mission of this event is parallel to the mission of our organization, which is to restore the lost voices of incarcerated women who's rights are being erased. The 3 of us absolutely need to get to this conference. 

Our organization is in its early steps of development. We are in the process of getting our 501(c)3 status, but in the mean time, we feel that we absolutely need to attend this conference, represent our community and begin to build relationships with the women in the free world who have not forgotten about our friends. The weekend conference has workshops and speakers scheduled and will provide us with an opportunity to meet like minded women that we never knew existed.

We are hoping to raise enough funds to cover the cost of myself, and the rest of the organization, Tyrina Griffin and Tiasha Croslin (yes, there's just 3 of us and 1 still incarcerated) to fly to Seattle, stay for for weekend and attend the conference.
