A Little Love for Ginger

Ginger needs our help!

Tom Griffith rescued Ginger, a sweet and loving terrier mix, from the local humane society, as a surprise for his wife back in 2015. Tom took Jeanne to the shelter as a complete surprise and told her to go in and choose a rescue to join their family.  The seniors live alone and Tom knew Jeanne was pining away for a four-legged companion after recently petsitting for their grandchildren's puppy.

The two fell in love at first sight with Ginger, then a three month old golden-furred puppy mix, and knew they had to bring her home.  She has been their constant companion ever since and has filled their home with light and love.  You may find her by their side at an outdoor cafe while they grab a coffee or sunning herself in the yard while they garden. Ginger is a neighborhood mascot greeting neighbors with her happy gait and wagging tail on her daily walks. She even has regular playdates with several canine friends throughout the neighborhood.  

In the midst of the pandemic, on Thursday, April 9, 2020, Ginger was the victim of a vicious attack.  She was on a walk with Tom when a couple walking three, what appeared to be, pit bull mix dogs lost control of one of the dogs.  The uncontrolled dog ran across the street and savagely tore into Ginger biting her repeatedly. 

Ginger has undergone extensive surgery at a veterinary clinic to surgically repair her numerous wounds and has had several drains put in to help reduce inflammation and internal fluids.  She is on a course of medicine and has follow up visits needed as part of her recovery. 

The veterinary bills have come at a difficult time for them. We are looking for help from the community for the veterinary cost for the surgery, her medicines and care of Ginger.
