MICHAEL Papi Mays

Those that know my stepdad Mike Mays “PAPI”, knows that he has been ill with a lung disorder in which the physicians have not been able to diagnose. After spending 3 weeks in the hospital he was sent home, they assumed the issues with his oxygen was due to the para influenza 3 and human rhino virus they found on the first night of his hospital stay. He seemed to get better and came home with 2 liters of oxygen as needed, but after 3 or 4 days at home he got worse and was raised to 8 liters of oxygen full time, which he is currently on. Exhausting all the resources here in Victoria his doctors decided to send him to San Antonio to see multiple specialist, who still do not have any answers. Mike is employed with Mac Haik in Victoria for over 10 years, he has not been able to work since this started and from what doctors are saying may not be able to work for several months to come, even if they find out what is going on with him. Putting even more stress on him and the family with mounting medical expenses and minimal income. My mom has been caring for him full time while trying to work for the school district. He is unable to drive so she has to take off work for each appointment, with school about to start up again her pay checks will suffer as they already have for the past 4 months. My stepdad has always put his family and friends first even above his own personal wants or needs. Mike and my mom have been married over 12 years, since day one he has treated me and my brother like his very own. About 7 years ago I lost my home and all our belongings to a fire. Mike signed for an apartment for me and my 5 children so we were not on the streets. He paid my rent for years and helped replace all of the stuff that we lost. To this day he makes sure that me and the kids are not doing without basic necessities. I have attached a video he made for me on one of the most important days of my life. April 13, 2019 when I married my best friend.  Mike was supposed to walk me down the aisle and do the daddy daughter dance with me, something we both had been looking forward to since planning the wedding. He was unable to even attend the wedding, it broke my heart, when that video was played there was not a dry eye in the building.
He has not only been there for me but for my brother Richard as well. Hurricane Harvey destroyed his home and everything in it. He helped my brother relocate to a new home vouching for him and putting up the deposit, also helping him replace everything he needed. Tarra and Brianna who both live in Maryland have always been able to depend on their dad from a far. Tarra knows all she has to do is call and he will help the best he can. He even helped Brianna with starting her medical career. Mike worked 6 days a week and very long hours to always make sure everyone is taken care of. Doing everything for everybody and putting everyone else ahead of himself. Me, my step-sisters nor my brother have the means or the resources to help him in his time of need, but thought by doing this fund raiser I could at least show him how much he is Loved and what he means to this family. All prayers appreciated and needed!!

KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND KEEP FIGHTING PAPI!!!!
