Eye Injury from Dog Bite
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nikki and I recently (10/23/22) had a medical emergency. My right eye was permanently injured as a result of a large dog attack. He bit me across the right side of my face injuring my right eye and temple. I ended up with two lacerations of the lid and an inch-long laceration on my right temple. I didn't realize the extent of my injuries until I got to the hospital via ambulance. I was first transported to Community Hospital and upon examination, they transferred to IU Methodist. Once at Methodist it was confirmed that my eye was punctured and I would need surgery right away. The surgeons had to reform the globe of the eye and also had to call in an Ocular Plastic surgeon to reconstruct my tear duct. I will lose the majority of the vision in that eye and will also have a very long recovery time. The most important part of recovery right now is making sure I don't lose pressure or get an infection in that eye. An infection could cause me to lose my eye. With restrictions on bending, lifting, stress and anything else that would cause pressure in my eye, I will not be able to work. If you can't donate, please pray for me and the healing of my right eye.
