Winter help: NoviBorovychi (region Snovsk) Ukraine

Wij zijn Marije en Bernd. Sinds begin april 2022 hebben wij vluchtelingen uit Oekraïne bij ons thuis opgevangen. In eerste instantie twee vluchtelingen en vanaf de zomer zijn dit er vijf geworden. Bijna acht maanden hebben wij onze nieuwe huisgenoten (Tanja, Diana, Sveta, Julia en Lisa) leren kennen. Van dichtbij kregen we mee hoe zij familie en vrienden hebben moeten achterlaten die niet wilden, konden of mochten vluchten.

Met hun in Nederland hard verdiende geld hebben ze de afgelopen tijd familie en vrienden ondersteund die het het hardste nodig hadden. Wekelijkse gingen en gaan er hulppakketten met voedsel en andere levensbehoeften bij ons de deur uit richting Oekraïne.

Nu de winter valt en Poetin de koude als wapen gebruikt met aanvallen op energiecentrales en het elektriciteitsnet, is de hulpbehoefte te groot voor ze geworden om dat alleen te doen. In het dorp waar een groot deel van de familie vandaar komt NoviBorovychi (nabij Snovsk 200km boven Kiyv) zitten alle 900 inwoners momenteel zonder elektriciteit en water. Zelfs de 50 powerbanks (met zaklamp) en honderden gewone batterijen die deze week door een Amazon koerier bij ons afgeleverd werden voor hulp, zijn een druppel op de gloeiende plaat.

Vrienden en bekenden hebben de afgelopen tijd vaak gevraagd of ze konden helpen. Dit leek ons een goed moment hiervoor en om te starten met deze actie.

Het doel is om de inwoners van NoviBorovychi de winter door te helpen. Primair willen we de stroomvoorziening (en hopelijk dan ook watervoorziening) herstellen door het leveren van generatoren. De bedoeling is deze in Nederland aan te schaffen en te verschepen naar NoviBorovychi. Daarnaast is er ook grote behoefte aan powerbanks, gereedschap, medicijnen en voedsel. De bedoeling is alles in Nederland aan te schaffen en te verschepen naar NoviBorovychi.

We are Marije and Bernd. Since the beginning of April 2022 we have hosted refugees from Ukraine at our home. Initially just two refugees and in the beginning of summer three relatives joined the first two. We have been getting to know our new housemates (Tanja, Diana, Sveta, Julia and Lisa) for almost eight months now. We learned from up close how they had to leave behind family and friends who could not or were not allowed to seek refuge.

With the hard-earned money they earned in the Netherlands, they supported family and friends who needed it the most. Weekly aid packages with food and other necessities were sent to Ukraine.

With winter coming and Putin using the cold as a weapon with attacks on power plants and the electricity grid, the need for help has become too great for them to go at it alone.

In the village NoviBorovychi (200 km above Kiyv) where a large part of their family comes from, all 900 inhabitants are currently without electricity and water. Even the 50 power banks (with flashlight) and hundreds of ordinary batteries that were delivered to us this week for help are a drop in the ocean.

Friends and acquaintances have often asked if they could help. We thought this would be a good time to take action and start this Gofundme campaign.

The goal is to help the residents of NoviBorovychi through the winter. We primarily want to restore the power supply (and hopefully also the water supply) by supplying generators. The intention is to purchase these in the Netherlands and ship them to NoviBorovychi. In addition, there is also a great need for power banks, tools, medicines and food. The intention is to purchase everything in the Netherlands and ship it to NoviBorovychi.
