Wine Country Spoken Word Festival

It was 2010 when we (Dave & Juliet Pokorny) kicked off the North Bay’s first StorySlam in historic downtown Petaluma. Back then it was our dream to eventually produce a Spoken Word Festival. We’ve spent the last 7 years building our community of storytellers and believe that 2017 is our year.
We decided to put together a festival that we would want to attend (and we have). However, putting together a quality weekend is not something Mickey Rooney & Judy Garland could just throw together, it takes planning, a little luck, a lot of research and some guts. We looked at all the festivals the internet could bring up-our goal was to make your experience unique, we want it to be special and something you tell all your friends about-we’re not asking for too much, right? You won’t be able to find another Festival of this kind in the United States (we’ve searched). It’s going to be a full weekend celebrating, poetry, storytelling, liars contests, ghost stories, comedy, story slams and swaps, various forms of literary expressions, and much more, in some of the coolest locations Petaluma has to offer. The Inaugural Wine Country Spoken Word Festival is truly going to be, one of a kind.
What we’re asking folks who enjoy spoken word is, please consider supporting this festival and help us realize a dream seven years in the making. The reality is, it does cost money, for things like advertising, lanyards passes, inaugural hats, and so on. Be that as it may, we are bringing the best national talent from all spoken word genres to the wine country. You can’t stop us, you can only help us make it better and to get this off to a great start we really could use your assistance this first year.
If our supporters gave just $10 to $20 we could raise enough to help off set things like programs insurance, and of course TALENT, and we are bringing the talent.
No gift is too small, or for that matter too large.
Lastly, we’d like to throw our net out as far as we can and make Historic Petaluma a destination place and to bring spoken word to people who just don’t know what they’re missing.
We would greatly appreciate you sharing this message on any and all forms of social media-spread the word and help us make The Inaugural into The Annual Wine Country Spoken Word Festival.
We’ve always told our kids that you can’t hit a home run unless you swing the bat, so swing hard. We’re about to swing really hard and with your help this festival will be a home run!!
