Napa Fire Ate My House

Hello from smoky Napa, California. I was not a grape grower, nor did I make wine. I was a freelance writer living in and working from a humble cabin in the glorious Lokoya redwoods with my cat, Leroy.

On Tuesday October 10, wildfire snuck up the backside of the mountaintop and chased us out of our home with minutes to spare. I had been without power or radio or a phone for three days and did not know the fire was so close. I was unable to save anything but my cat, a guitar, and the laptop on which I work.  Everything I owned is gone.

A lifetime of treasures cannot be replaced, but maybe you guys can help me buy clothes, shoes, cat food, medicine, and other life essentials. 

I know I am just one of thousands who lost everything in the terrible Napa-Sonoma conflagrations. If you can help, thank you. If you cannot, I utterly understand. 

May peace and reason and LOVE prevail. 

OCTOBER 28 UPDATE:

GoFundMe is holding my funds! Their reasoning is that I did not explain who I am, why I need donations, how I will withdraw them, or how I will spend them. I thought I already did that, but I was in shock when I composed my GFM Story. To clarify:

1. I am Kaanii Powell Cleaver. I am a writer living in Napa County, California. My humble home at 1202 Lokoya Road (and everything in it) burned to ash on October 10, 2017. 

2. My relationship to the parties? I am collecting funds for myself and my old cat, Leroy.

3. I will use funds collected to buy clothes, food, shelter, and work tools.  I will spend some of it on utilities, internet service, phone service, and car insurance. I will use some to pay my bills.

4. If and when GFM deems me worthy of receiving donations, I will withdraw them (minus the GFM fees) into my small credit union account.

Glad we cleared that up.
