Windsor mom represents Canada at Jiu Jitsu Worlds

Darian Primeau is a life long Jiu Jitsu practitioner who is trying to make a comeback after reviving her passion following the birth of her now 4yr old daughter.

Beginning her passion at the age of 4 herself, she only took a break from the sport after having a daughter of her own who is currently 4 and is enrolled in a kids Jiu jitsu program. With the pressure to quit the sport because 'mother's should focus on their children and not chase their own childhood dreams', she has since found herself on Team Canada and is eyeing the biggest challenge any Jiu Jitsu practitioner can compete in, the 2019 Abu Dhabi Worlds.

The sport of Jiu Jitsu is all about dedication  &  respect, on and off the mats. Darian is a true advocate for the sport. She is not just an athlete , she works for Fuji as a referee and sales rep, she is the face of the female Jiu Jitsu scene in the region, teaching the adult and female only classes at Maximum Training Centre. She hosts seminars and has attended seminars from the best the sport can offer. Studies the sport and keeps informed on all rule changes for most leagues. Known for all of her contributions to the Women's Shelter and being a spokes woman for the domestic violance community.

Darian's inspiration to become the best derives from her life long role model and Canadian Jiu Jitsu icon - Emily Kwok. She is a Japanese born Canadian Jiu Jitsu black belt who is a multiple time world champion. Darian has had the pleasure of meeting her role model on numerous occasions attending as many of her seminars as she could, and being so lucky to have many hours of one on one training with her .

Darian has done well in her career so far:
•2012 Pan Am Gold Medalist
•2014 Pan Am Silver Medalist -No Gi
•2x  IBJJF Chicago State Champion
•Ohio, Kentucky & Michigan State Fuji Champion

Being the only competitor South of Toronto to qualify for Team Canada, she is determined now, more than ever to put Windsor on the map in the Jiu Jitsu world!
This tournament is the equivalent to the Olympics for Jiu Jitsu and with it, comes an expensive price tag.  An opportunity and lifetime experience that you just can't turn down, comes with many hurdles. Being a mom, working full time, school full time, instructing and training as much as possible as well as volunteering, taking 9 days to go do this is certainly not easy and she  rarely asks anybody for help. But with some help she can go represent Canada with a lot less stress on her shulders.

We want to thank anyone who is able to donate to help make this dream possible!
