This September 2017, I’m volunteering again with World Vets going to Cusco, Peru.
In November 2014, I traveled to Roatan, Honduras volunteering with World Vets , a non-profit organization providing international veterinary and disaster relief programs to help animals, educate people and have a positive impact on communities. It was amazing interacting with people from other countries who can help solve a problem that is important to an international society. My hope is our trip will help elevate awareness about a topic dear to me.
Every year, millions of cats and dogs are euthanized in animal shelters because there are more pets than there are responsible homes for them. Until this issue is resolved, organizations worldwide agree companion animals adopted from public or private shelters and control facilities should be spayed or neutered. Unwanted pets are simply abandoned to suffer and die on streets or languish in lonely backyards without companionship, exercise, or, in many cases, even basic necessities such as food, water, shelter, or veterinary care.
As a veterinary professional, I assist, whenever and however possible, in reducing the numbers of unwanted pets while others turn their backs on their loyal companions when they become “inconvenient” or “too much work.”
To be eligible for consideration, I am solely responsible for all of the costs involved without reimbursement from the host organization and activity sponsor. The expense of it all can be quite daunting but I feel encouraged.
Your financial generosity will assist me in helping assure the pets of Cusco are healthy and wanted.
Even if it's for a small amount, I would be very grateful! My goal is $2500.
