Willy Street Chamber Players: Community Connect
We are the Willy Street Chamber Players! We love our community and we love playing classical chamber music. We have been performing lots of concerts during the month of July in Madison, WI for seven years. We especially like mixing the classics with new and exciting pieces!
A few years ago, in addition to our normal events, we started performing an annual concert we call "Community Connect--" it's near and dear to our hearts because each program is family friendly, presented in an inclusive space, and free to attend!
The Covid-19 pandemic made it virtually impossible to enjoy live music last year. We missed performing and attending live concerts so much! It ESPECIALLY bummed us out that kids in our community were not able to experience any live music last year. We decided to do something about this by expanding our Community Connect programming in 2021 to include direct partnerships with two local nonprofit summer camps in Madison. Throughout one week in July, we will visit the elementary-aged campers to prepare them for a live concert presented especially for their camp at the end of the week! Kids will get to know us, be able to ask questions and get curious, and get to experience LIVE music up close and personal! We have also recorded a virtual concert so that anyone can watch this concert from anywhere--for free!
Now the really cool part: each of the five pieces we'll be presenting to the campers and on the virtual concert was written by a composer LIVING TODAY. We've picked some of our favorites and can't wait to share them with the students and with YOU!
In order to present these activities free of charge, we need your help. Your donation will help introduce over 100 local Madison kids to the magic of chamber music through Meet the Musician visits and live performance!
Between WSCP's 5 core members, we have over SIXTY FIVE years of experience in music education! We are passionate about sharing music with young people and feel that it is SO important. We hope you'll consider a donation to help us!
