Wills Ironbourne hell day in aid of two amazing charities
Donation protected
Hi , I am Will, a relatively slow runner who thinks he can achieve far more than is probably possible. As a result of my blind ignorance to my abilities I have signed up for Ironbourne on the 20th July 2025, an Ironman style endurance triathlon consisting of:
2.4 mile sea swim
112 mile bike ride
26.2 mile run
All in one day! (Also not allowed music arrhhhh)
why would I want to do this?
three reasons:
1. Since quitting smoking in 2020, turning my attitude around, joining the fire service in 2022 and becoming a Dad to a beautiful little girl, I have been amazed by what is possible and now constantly seek more, to go further , faster etc and I thought this is a pretty good test!
2. Working for the fire service I see the amazing work people do and how it can affect their physical and mental health. The fire fighters charity support everyone past or present in the fire service and their families with essential services and help them get their lives back. Here’s what they have to say:
‘We exist to provide life-long care and support for the UK's fire family. Here's everything you need to know about how we'll always be here for you and your loved ones.’
3. You Raise Me Up a local Sussex charity that do something no one else does, give coping mechanisms, support and a community to those who suffer the loss of a loved one between the ages of 16-25. Like most smaller charities recent financial stresses have made operating almost impossible for YRMU and that’s not good enough, we each must do our part to support vital local charities like YRMU. Here’s what they say:
‘The ‘You Raise Me Up charity’ was founded by the late Jane Brooks and her husband Fraser in June 2011. The charity’s sole purpose is to raise funds to support families that have suffered the loss of a young person aged 16-25 years. We are based in East Sussex and support families from East & West Sussex and Kent.‘
2 weeks after the event I will withdraw all funds and give them to each charity and post evidence of the donation. The split will be 50/50 between each charity, unless one does not accept the donation then 100% of proceeds will go to the remaining charity.
please give what you can, and if you can not give please make people aware of these amazing causes that are close to my heart.
