Willow's Glaucoma Surgery

Donation protected
On February 8th, my sweet dog Willow was diagnosed with primary glaucoma, which is increased pressure in the eye caused by an abnormal drainage angle of the eye. Glaucoma is a very painful condition and rapidly causes blindness in the affected eye. Today at her appointment with the ophthalmologist, the eye pressure of her right eye was 70, where a normal eye pressure is 10-25. Willow's glaucoma is genetic, which puts her healthy eye at risk for developing clinical signs as well.
Fortunately, Willow still has sight in her eye and has a healthy optic nerve. Her retina has sustained damage due to the increased pressure, but treatment should help her regain some vision.

On February 9th, Willow will undergo a surgery called gonioshant implant and cyclophotocoagulation to try to preserve her vision in the long-term. She will also be required to stay in the hospital for 1-2 days so her eye pressure can be monitored after the surgery. Her surgery will cost approximately $2400, which includes her stay in the hospital. She will have to be on eye medication for the rest of her life.

I adopted Willow in September 2016 from a shelter in TN after she was rescued from an abusive situation where she was tied to a tree and neglected. I fell in love with Willow the instant I met her, the first thing she did was lick my face and wag her little tail. Willow helped me get through my first year of vet school and I want to ensure she has an amazing life. I love Willow endlessly and I want to do absolutley everything I can to keep her healthy and happy.

As a vet student, I already have heaps of debt to deal with and the cost of Willow's glaucoma surgery will be a lot for me to handle on my own. I would be extremely grateful to anyone who wishes to help give Willow a chance at keeping her sight! All donations will go directly to her surgery and other treatments. Thank you for taking the time to read Willow's story!

This is Willow the day I adopted her from the shelter in Sept. 2016. She has been the sweetest dog from day 1 and I want to give her the world.

This is Willow on February 2nd. Her right eye has a severely dilated pupil and has a darker color due to blood in the iris.
