William Wade Medical Fund

William is a composer, lyricist, orchestrator, arranger, conductor, musical director, and pianist who divides his time between New York City and Tampa, Florida. His work includes the score for the hit off-Broadway show, ImaginOcean, Warsaw, Alice, and Wounded Knee.  He plays and teaches at Mark Morris, Juilliard, Broadway Classroom, and Revolucion Latina, among many, many others. His vocal coaching has lead to numerous performers booking their first Broadway gigs. His blunt and cantankerous style paired with extraordinary piano skills made him a legend in the NYC Piano Bar circuit.

In early September, William was taken to the hospital with several blood clots following a flight from Florida. After a surgery and treatment to dissolve the clots, follow up medical imaging revealed a more troubling issue and William was subsequently diagnosed with cancer.

The prognosis is good, but there's a long road ahead of him - six to eight weeks of radiation and chemo leading up to another surgery in November to remove the mass. (Subsequent updates have increased this timeline to 6-8 months at a minimum. Check the updates for more information.) William does not have a full time gig - he works many jobs in many locations, and is not currently eligible for insurance at any of them. With the treatment plan ahead of him, he will not be able to work his full schedule. Though he would not ask you himself - I will. He needs our help to get through this challenging time so he can continue to create the extraordinary music we've come to know and love.
