William "Bill" Downing

Hi, I'm helping William's family to memorialize him and with fundraising to help with the expenses of his death and funeral. All donations go directly to his family. I hope you'll donate and let others know about this fundraiser. Here's the story and why we need your help:

It is with deep sadness we share the passing of William "Bill" Downing at the age of 68. William was taken tragically from us on January 18, 2023. He was far from home and loved ones in Costa Rica, when he was shot and killed in broad daylight. His grieving family and friends are stunned by his senseless death and the cruel way it was carried out. William was a complex person who could present a tough exterior but inside was a kind and generous heart. He was a loving and supportive father, grandfather, brother, and ex-spouse and was always there to help a friend in need.

Family members will travel to Costa Rica to settle his affairs and bring him, back, incurring expenses for travel, cremation, funeral, and celebration of life. Adding to that - to bring justice and closure, we anticipate legal and investigative expenses. We will share cost estimates, progress of the case, and funeral details when we know more.
