Isolation of mountain lions and other wildlife has hit a critical stage, with genetic abnormalities now discovered among the lion population in the Santa Monica Mountains. The Liberty Canyon crossing will connect populations of wildlife south of the 101 Freeway to the north in the Simi Hills, the Santa Susana Mountains, and in the Los Padres National Forest, where there is a large population of mountain lions and other wildlife.
