Wildfire 2023 Relief Fund

Donation protected

Every year, devastating wildfires cause destruction to communities across the US, leaving people in need of help to recover and get through this unexpected hardship. On average, 7.2 million acres of land burn in the US annually. As a result, each year we see thousands of people create fundraisers for wildfire relief. The activity on GoFundMe is often a reflection of what is happening in the world, especially during times of crisis. That’s why we have created this fund – to provide direct relief to the people who need it most when these disasters strike.

While we can’t avoid wildfires, we can prepare in their anticipation so we are raising money proactively to be able to provide immediate and direct relief. In past years, hundreds of grants have been delivered directly to people impacted by various wildfires to help them rebuild and recover. We are monitoring and responding quickly as these fundraisers are created on GoFundMe for those affected and seeking help. Your generosity to this fund allows us to provide those important relief grants to those affected as wildfires occur.

Why donate to this fund?
  • This is an easy and central place to give, eliminating the burden of choice for donors.
  • GoFundMe.org strives to provide quick and direct relief, granting to individuals in need as well as community efforts and organizations who are working to help.
  • We are committed to serving those who are most impacted, &/or related charity efforts. We are committed to supporting as many people as possible and work to ensure that our grants are impactful.
  • Donations to this fund are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by US law and receipts are emailed upon donation completion.
Our first priority is to deliver grants directly to those impacted in the US. We grant only to verified individuals who qualify and are fundraising for themselves or on behalf of those affected. Your donations to this fund allow us to grant to many people seeking help on GoFundMe to help meet their fundraising goals. We may also then provide grants to GoFundMe’s for community relief efforts, and also to vetted nonprofit organizations aiding with long-term recovery and relief.

We are serious about transparency and impact. You can check back here for updates on distributions from this fund.

We will actively monitor the locations of wildfire activity in the U.S. and will list the wildfires we are supporting here as they occur to help as many as possible.

Thank you for supporting those in need of help. We believe that every single act of help is meaningful; and the sum of them is enormous. Together, we can help people in these times of crisis and provide a bit of relief, and hope, for their road to recovery.

If you know a GoFundMe fundraiser that may qualify to receive a grant, please submit it using this form and we will ensure it is reviewed.

GoFundMe.org is a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 81-2279757). Its mission is to provide fast and effective relief to victims of disaster, and to fund education and other charitable initiatives. Since 2017, GoFundMe.org has raised over $150 million, for distribution to nonprofit organizations serving the same mission, and to individuals who are part of the charitable class. It strives to eliminate the paradox of choice for donors by providing a centralized place to give, knowing that those dollars are disbursed to the right organizations and people. GoFundMe.org operated at a 96% efficient rate, meaning that $.96 on every dollar given, goes straight to delivering help, not our admin costs. Donations to this fund are tax-deductible to the extent permissible by law. Money will be given at the discretion of GoFundMe.org as the need arises.
