WIGI Dome for Festival of Dreams

The Festival of Dreams is coming to Eureka, CA promoting creativity and arts with the theme of the Wigi Humboldt Bay. Little Lost Forest, an Art and Community business is manifesting the WIGI Dome. I came to Humboldt County to be surrounded by nature. Our beaches are still exempt from overcrowding; long rainy months feed the rivers and the forest allowing abundant fishing and the sprouting of mushrooms. As we open our bay to cruise ship tourism, now is the perfect time to educate our community and visitors on the Wigi, an estuary to six rivers, otters that have nearly gone instinct, and Wiyot Indian ground. 

We want to create a safe resting space for our audience. A shaded area decorated with marine animals and plants, blue, purple, and green colors accompanied by opposing oranges and reds. They will see soft and cute versions of animals in our local bay, such as octopuses and diadromous fish. 10% of all earnings are donated to Friends of the Dunes to preserve the wildlife of Humboldt Bay.

Our goal is to create a combination of self-healing and environmental education so that we can transform from the inside out. By learning and resting, we are becoming more aware of our environment and our ability to act and preserve. 

We will display art inside the WIGI dome that depicts local areas and wildlife, featuring local artists. We can serve tea within the WIGI dome as we see fit. There will be educational signs and posters about local nature that can educate all ages. We host educational workshops on marine biology, forestry, wildlife, or historical history when educators are accessible! Our team managing the WIGI dome would be encouraged to dress in unique costumes reflecting the bay animals and habitats. Extra dream amenities include a projector to show videos of wildlife and string lights. 

The dome can be imagined in Halvorsen Park and would take up a 20x20 space. This dome may start small but can be imagined to grow in the following years. Fundraising and events to support the dome will help it with its growth in size and material.
