Who We Became

Hello there!

My name is Kenan J Neo and I'm currently a senior student majoring in Cinema at San Francisco State
University.

I'm currently enrolled in the Film Thesis class where each student has to write, direct, shoot and edit
his/her own eight minute film over the duration of a year. 

My film, titled "Who We Became" is about a jaded teacher who is haunted by his traumatic past as a
teenager in the same school he continues to teach in.  It explores the damaging long term effects of school bullying and delves deeper into the reality of an issue that is almost never talked about. 

School bullying is an issue that is very close to my heart. I strongly believe it is a social catastrophe with
destructive effects that is grossly overlooked by the public. My intention for crafting this film is to raise
awareness for this issue and encourage the audience to reflect.

The power of film has been misused as much of the industry continues to promote shallow and
materialistic ideas to the public all in the name of money. My greatest desire as a filmmaker has always
been to make deep and thought provoking films that are real and relevant. This project is a stepping stone
to empower me in that area.

The money raised from this campaign will go to:

1. equipment rentals

2. paying professional actors to play the roles

3. transportation costs

4. craft services for the crew/cast and film

Any additional earnings will go to post-production costs and film festival submissions. 

My team and I are aiming to have the film shot over Veterans' Day weekend (Nov 9-12), so I'd preferably
like to be able to raise the money before then. 

Shooting a film is neither cheap nor easy. But no matter how big or small your contribution is, my team and I are most grateful for your help in making this vision happen. With your support, we look forward to putting our all into a riveting film that will impact our society on a revolutionary scale. Change starts with you.
