Whitaker Cancer Fight

Donation protected
Hello Everyone! I hope if you have opened this link, you are taking the time to read about this wonderful family and the hardship that has been brought upon them. This loving family happens to be part of our family; in fact the person going through this rough time is our cousin Matt. I am hoping in making this account, we can help them with their expenses due to the large amount of medical bills that are adding up as well as other living expenses.

A little about the Whitaker family
They are a loving family of three; Matt, Sarah, and a beautiful little girl Olivia. They have recently relocated to Texas from Florida due to Matts work. Unfortunately with everything that has been going on Matt, hasn’t been able to put as many hours into working as he would like. He is the sole income provider and insurance provider for the family. His work will allow him to keep the insurance if he puts work on hold, as long as the family pays the premiums. Sarah, his wife, is a stay at home mother. She has been busy taking care of Olivia and trying to keep her husbands spirits high, and taking very good care of him as well. If all goes well, it will be a total of 11 months of treatment and recovery time from surgery. As a family they are strong, and each keep their attitudes as positive as can be to keep that glowing smile on their daughters face. Unfortunately the black cloud that has taken some of this family’s light is something we all wish we could find the cure for, Cancer.

Diagnoses and Treatment
Matt was diagnosed with a pleomorphic sarcoma on his left lower leg in February 2012. He had multiple surgeries to remove the large tumor and lymph nodes that it spread to. During this time, he did chemo and radiation. Due to the type of chemo treatment he was receiving, it caused radiation recall, which caused his leg to swell very large. He had to learn how to walk all over again with lymphedema therapy. He was out of work all of 2012 and parts of 2013. He went into remission during February 2013. If moving to a new place wasn’t hard enough away from all family, they found out the cancer had returned in February 2014. He now has two tumors in his leg and a questionable node in his hip. They are giving him a much stronger chemo this time that supposedly has a record of positive results. He is doing inpatient in the hospital in Corpus Christi for a week; two weeks at home rest period, then repeating for one more cycle. After two cycles, they go back to Houston for scans to see how the chemo is working. If positive results four more cycles of chemo, five weeks of radiation, surgery, and possibly two additional cycles of chemo after healing from the surgery. As you can see this family is going through a lot at this time. Any donation would be much appreciated from the entire Whitaker family. They also have a page on Facebook.
