It was December 1, 2016 that I heard the dreaded words “You have cancer.” Wow...what a shock!
I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, which had already progressed to my lymph nodes, and I was classified as “Stage III”. This is a highly aggressive cancer that calls for immediate treatment so it does not advance to other parts of the body, and the risk for cancer to re-occur within five years after treatment is high.
It is our greatest desire to glorify God in all we do, so perhaps you can understand our struggle as we studied what would be the best form of treatment. Rodney and I prayerfully researched my condition and asked for God’s direction and guidance for the best treatment and outcome. This included consultations with trusted SDA physicians, naturopathic doctors and our local cancer physicians. In the end we decided to utilize both traditional medicine as well as alternative/natural methods of care and healing.
Natural methods included a cancer protocol from Wellness Secrets located in Decatur, AR. Medical treatments included chemotherapy to shrink the tumors followed by surgery on June 8 to remove any residual cancer.
Now that we are over the emergency but the risk for reoccurrence remains high, we are looking at a variety of wellness centers to help improve my chances of being cancer-free for the next 5 years. We've decided upon Eden Valley Lifestyle Center in Loveland, CO. They offer a two-week program for cancer patients that will provide both health treatments and education to develop and kick-start a lifestyle plan for health.
As you can imagine, fighting cancer is expensive and Eden Valley Lifestyle Center was NOT in the budget. The program costs are roughly $5,000 plus travel. Several family members stepped up to the plate and have not only encouraged us to go to Eden Valley, but have also helped with their generous financial gifts, thus our remaining goal is just $3,800. We have prayerfully and reluctantly decided to set up this GoFundMe account. Truly we would appreciate any donation you would be able to make, small or large, as the Lord impresses you.
