I broke my neck almost 6 years ago. I became paralyzed from the chest down with limited arm movement and no finger movement as well as movement from my chest down. I thought my life was over. I worked construction to raise and support 3 kids and when this happened I was no longer able to do so. I played sports from 4th grade all the way until i couldn't anymore. I was always up moving and being active until this happened because I thought I wouldn't be able to do anything active again. One year after breaking my neck I went from weighing 235lbs to 320lbs i was not doin well and realized I needed to change what I was doing to save myself. I found wheelchair rugby and I got that same feeling watching as I got when I watched my older brother play football for the first time, it was like it was meant for me, a calling to be great but I didn't have my own equipment. I borrowed rugby chairs from my local recreation center and started playing wheelchair rugby. Since that day 4 years ago I've been able to lose over 100 lbs! It changed my life. I felt like I could be someone my kids could look up too again, I could show them no matter what your situation is with hard work, determination and never giving up anything is possible. My goal is to reach 185lbs and my dream is to play wheelchair rugby and to help represent The United States of America in the Olympics. I'm not where I want to be with my weight loss goal yet and with your help I will have access to my own equipment fit and manufactured specifically for me to optimize and elevate my physical activity. If I was able to do this on borrowed equipment, imaging what I could do with a chair built specifically for myself! You won't only be helping me with this but my family as well by showing my kids that its ok to have a kind heart.
