In memory of Jay and his father Howard Jankelewicz

Jay Jankelewicz was a Brooklyn College alumni, and also graduated from Simmons University with a Masters degree in Library information Sciences. Jay was an invaluable office manager in the Philosophy Department at Brooklyn College. In his role as an office manager, Jay helped students, faculty, staff and anyone who entered the Philosophy Department. Everyone knew if they had a problem, they could come to Jay for his help and sincere, heartfelt compassion. He was an amazing friend, son, colleague, the loveliest of human beings.  Jay meant so much to many of us. He was hard working with an impeccable work ethic, dedicated and always ready to help. If you ever had the chance to interact with this  beautiful person, you know how special he really was. Jay passed away on Thursday, April 09, 2020 from complications related to CODVID-19 and we are all truly heartbroken and in disbelief. Please help us to raise money in his memory in order to give our beloved Jay a dignified headstone. His passing was so sudden and unexpected, and he will be truly missed by everyone that knew him. Your contributions will help to express to Jay’s parents how much he was appreciated and loved.


Update:

Tragically, on Monday, April 20th 2020, Jay's father, Howard Jankelewicz also passed away. Jay's mother, Sylvia, is now left by herself to deal not only with the emotional devastation of losing her son and her husband all within the past eleven days, but also has to worry about covering the expenses for another burial. This is only the day after our beloved Jay's funeral.
