Damaris Medical Fund

Like almost every year, Damaris Rios would travel from Houston to the Rio Grande Valley to visit her extended family for the holidays. Whom would have thought that a time of celebrations would bring such anguish. December 29, 2017 was a date that brought tragedy for the Jimenez- Rios family. That day seemed like any other, as she was at her sister’s home, getting ready to return home (to Houston) the next morning. That night she began to feel terrible, symptoms of high blood pressure soon began to grow worse. Her sister noticed the muscular paralysis and the slurred speech and called for an ambulance right away. She was hospitalized at the Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen. The doctors’ diagnosis was that she had a hemorrhagic stroke, caused by a cerebral aneurysm. The bleeding in her brain and the stroke caused her to lose control of the right side of her body. So far, she has been induced in coma, she has gotten an angiogram done and a craniotomy to relieve her brain. Prayers have been answered, and God has proven his graciousness on her.  She is still in the hospital recovering, with the good news from doctors that are slowly taking away the sedatives. This occurrence brought shock to everyone that knows her, since she always lived a healthy and active life-style. Although this instance was misfortunate it united family, friends and acquaintances. As costs keep amounting, this beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend needs our help.

Como casi cada año, Damaris Ríos viaja desde Houston hasta el Valle del Río Grande para visitar a su familia extendida para las vacaciones. Quién hubiera pensado que un tiempo de celebraciones traería tal angustia. 29 de diciembre de 2017 fue una fecha que trajo la tragedia de la familia Jiménez- rios. Ese día parecía como cualquier otro, como estuvo en la casa de su hermana, preparándose para volver a casa (a Houston) a la mañana siguiente. Esa noche ella comenzó a sentir terrible, síntomas de presión arterial alta pronto comenzó a empeorar. Su hermana notó la parálisis muscular y la dificultad en el habla y llama a una ambulancia inmediatamente. Fue hospitalizada en el Valley Baptist Hospital en Harlingen. El diagnóstico de los médicos fue que tenía un accidente cerebrovascular hemorrágico, causada por un aneurisma cerebral. El sangrado en el cerebro y el derrame le hizo perder el control del lado derecho de su cuerpo. Hasta ahora, ella ha sido inducido en coma, que ha conseguido un angiograma hecho y una craneotomía para aliviar su cerebro. Oraciones han sido contestadas, y Dios ha probado su bondad en ella. Ella todavía está en el hospital recuperándose, con las buenas noticias de los médicos que lentamente se van retirando los sedantes. Esta repetición de choque trajo a todo el mundo que sabe de ella, puesto que ella siempre vivió una vida sana y activa-estilo. Aunque esta instancia fue desafortunada unió, familia, amigos y conocidos. Como los costes siguen ascendiendo, esta amada esposa, madre, hermana, tía, abuela y amigo necesita nuestra ayuda.

Familiar • Gastos de alojamiento (desde su familia nuclear tuvo que viajar desde Houston)
• Gastos de viaje desde el VRC a Houston
