To those of you who are reading this:
My name is Jeon, and I’m currently in need of funding because of a recent case of exploitation that I experienced.
While I was studying abroad in Korea this past year I met a friend of mine who I haven’t had contact with, but naturally we began to see each other again — nothing suspicious. However, a couple of weeks into this she asked me for money. Seeing as she was my friend, I agreed to help her because she claimed that her sister was in the hospital and she couldn’t foot the 2000$ bill. She promised to pay me back, and I lent her the full amount. She told me that because of her side jobs (a modeling gig as well as some involvement with sugar daddies) she would be able to pay me back soon.
I asked her for the money after some time, she kept saying she would pay me back, only she never did. Eventually she told me that if I gave her a card she knew a way to pay me back using that card by getting a refund on some hotel room. I gave them my card information, but as a result they started using that card to make further transactions. This whole time she insisted it was fine and that her sugar daddy was going to pay me back. She went as far as to send me screenshots of proof of payment, but no money actually got into my hands. Throughout the entire ordeal she kept my credit card, refusing to return it until she had to since I needed the card to pay for a taxi back to my dorm and get her something she needed.
At this point, the semester was over, and so I was forced to move out of my dorm. She got me a hotel room to stay In since I had nowhere to live and she wanted us to spend my birthday together, but I couldn’t live with her because her apartment was undergoing some issues or similar. I didn’t get any details. However, the other day the manager contacted me that she hadn’t paid for the hotel room, and she still insisted that she paid for it. She said she had receipts, but since she couldn’t confirm anything the police got involved. They took her away, in handcuffs, and I wasn’t allowed to leave the hotel until I paid half of the money (another 3000$ which my brother lent me). If I hadn’t, they would have deported me.
Right now I am able to stay with another friend who lives here, but I am really in need of help to recover from this loss. My friend (the girl who scammed me) has completely vanished, I can’t contact her, and I am not sure if she was deported or if she’s maybe still with the police.
I want to leave Korea as soon as possible but I don’t have any money and I’m still recovering emotionally from everything that has gone down. My parents already helped me pay the hotel despite being unemployed, so they can’t afford to also help me pay for a ticket.
TLDR; My friend scammed me out of over 5000$ and I am stuck in a foreign country. I don’t ask for much, just at least enough money to buy a plane ticket to get back home as soon as possible.
