WHW run - in memory of Ben Forsyth
Hello, and many thanks for visiting the page.
I will be running the west highland way from Milngavie to Fort William - covering a distance of 94miles or 151km. However, I have set myself the challenge of doing it inside the 48 hour mark which works out as around 3.5 marathons in 2 days to raise funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
"Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Since its formation in 1995, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. CRY publishes and distributes medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public. CRY funds specialist referral, screening and cardiac pathology services at leading UK hospitals" https://www.c-r-y.org.uk/about-us/.
Heart disease within the cycling world is an illness which has caused so much grief over the last few years - in both diagnosed and un-diagnosed cases. Most recently, within the close-knit cycling community in Scotland, through the loss of Ben Forsyth - a truly great guy who will remain at the core of so many increadible memories.
Any donation for the cause, however large or small will make a difference.
Thank-you greatly in advance.
