Werner Herzog Film Workshop in Peru

UPDATE: I raised the rest of the funds through a grant. Thank you so much for helping me reach my goal! I appreciate it so much and will find a way to repay everyone for their generosity!

My name is Aqsa Altaf and I am an aspiring filmmaker. I was raised in Kuwait by Pakistani / Sri Lankan parents and currently reside in California. I recently graduated from University of Southern California Film School. My thesis film, ONE SMALL STEP, had a world premiere at the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2018. You can find a link to a clip of the film here: http://www.ouatmedia.com/one-small-step/

I was selected as 1 of the 48 filmmakers to participate in the filmmaking workshop to make a short film guided by Werner Herzog in the Peruvian jungle organized by Black Factory Cinema. I am raising money to participate in this workshop. I just graduated and currently freelancing while working on writing/directing on the side. The tuition for this workshop is out of my budget currently and I would be so thankful to get all the help I can. I will pay it forward in the near future in some way or the other to help.

The base of the workshop will be located at the facilities of Inkaterra Field Station, a Peruvian organization devoted to sustainable development, ecotourism and biodiversity research in the region - old friends and allies of Herzog cinema that helped the production of films like Aguirre, the Warth of God

The workshop takes place May 1st - 12th. I will develop and shoot a short film under the guidance and supervision of Werner Herzog. The process of creation will go from the conception of the idea, to the script, the casting, the location scouting, directing, designing image and sound, and editing. The local inhabitants will be the characters of the stories to be shot in the Amazonian basin - some of them fundamental for Herzogian imagery.

The money that you pledge will go towards paying the tuition for the workshop which includes accommodation, transportation, production, and distribution. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will help me grow and advance as a filmmaker. All your support and help means a lot to me.

Thank you,
Aqsa Altaf
