Please consider helping us to raise $4,700 for Daniel and I,to get to South Africa this May to build a house for a community in need!

For those of you who don’t know, my name is Miguel Schlereth, and I am the owner of Alamo Carpentry Inc., based in Ontario, Canada. I have always loved using my hands to build and create, so when I was given the opportunity to be part of this a few years back, I jumped in both feet first.

Since 2016, I have been part of a men’s group that partners with Ten Thousand Homes (http://tenthousandhomes.org)to build a house for a deserving family once a year in the town of White River, South Africa.

All of our members are volunteers, and we fund our own way .

In recent years, more and more people have asked me how they can help and have expressed a desire to contribute to this cause.

We are very grateful for the interest in the project!!

During the first 2 weeks of May this year (2023), my employee Daniel and I will be joining a group of 6 people from the United Kingdom and 4 people from South Africa to build the next house.

Ten Thousand Homes is located in the province of Mpumalanga in eastern South Africa, and serves a local community by building as many homes as they can each year.

Many of the people who are nominated for a home have lived their whole lives in a building constructed out of whatever materials they were able to find. This leaves them exposed not only to the elements and pests, but also to a lack of safety and security.

Funds will be used to cover the cost of flights, insurance, accommodation/food etc. Any surplus funds raised after costs are covered will be donated to Ten Thousand Homes to assist with covering the cost of new builds, as well as other amazing projects they have, like school food programs, easing period poverty for girls, and purchasing school uniforms.
