Janet's Medical and Living Expenses
Donation protected
In November 2016, I was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. A blood cancer similar to leukemia. I've had six months of chemotherapy and I'm finally ready for my stem cell transplant. I'm very fortunate that my sister is a 100% match for me and is looking forward to being my doner.
Since March 2017, I've been on short term disability. At this point, my pay has been reduced to 85% of my regular pay, and in a couple of months it will be reduced to 50%. I'm told I will not be able to return to work for about a year following my transplant.
This has been a very humbling experience and I'm learning to rely on others for their support. I will be in the hospital for six or seven weeks, then will be staying with a caregiver for three or four months. I will need to be taken to MCV daily for additional treatments/transfusions.
I will not be able to cook, clean, do laundry, work outside, go to church (or restaurants), and drive.
Not only do I need the physical support of my friends and family, I need financial support too. There is a very strong possibility that I will need to sell my home or file for bankruptcy. I really don't want to lose my home, but know that once I am admitted to the hospital on 6/6, I may not be able to return to my home.
If you feel lead to provide financial support, please do. If you're not able to help financially, I would greatly appreciate your prayers.
Thank you for reading my story and for supporting me and my children in any way you can.
