When my husband took me to the ER in the middle of the night, we thought I had a pulled muscle. No way we would we have believed our lives were getting ready to take the turn that they did. Also just one week prior we lost our insurance through the MarketPlace. So now we are also uninsured.
I was diagnosed Jan 8th with non small cell lung cancer, and it has spread (stage4). This form of lung cancer is common in non smoking women between the ages of 40-60. So now we have over $100,000 in medical bills which have already been discounted from the vendor at least 50% because we are self paying.
I have been approved for disability but it takes 5 months to get your first check. Our small tourist shop, which was closed for Jan and Feb while I was stabilized and began my treatments, makes enough money to pay our household bills, but not any of these doctor bills. And they are huge. Rest assured, any money donated will go directly to these medical bills.
My prognosis is good but will require a long battle of chemo and radiation.The chemo pills are $9000 a month, and then there's the hospital, ambulance and lab services, and all of the individual Doctors, and last but not least the radiation centers.
Also more bills are coming in every day with some already threatening collections. My treatments are continuing so we are sure there will be more bills too.
We don't like asking people for help, especially money but this is what life has handed us. Any donation amount would be greatly appreciated and they took excellent care of me and saved me so I could fight cancer.
