We Need Your Help to Bring a Dr. KC Scholar to the Space Studies Program of International Space University

March 17th would have been the 57th birthday of Dr. Kalpana Chawla. On this auspicious day, we are honored to launch a crowdfunding campaign for our future Dr. KC scholar for her life-changing experience. This is now the fourth annual Dr. Kalpana Chawla Project for Innovation, Entrepreneurism & Space Studies. The project has funded young Indian girls to attend the Space Studies Program by the International Space University. The number of these scholars has grown in number each year.

The Kalpana Chawla Project for Innovation, Entrepreneurism and Space Studies at the International Space University (ISU) has been established to honor the Indian-American Astronaut Dr. Kalpana Chawla. The scholarship project is focused on developing strong technical and leadership qualities with talented Indian women.

The scholarship is used to provide funding for Indian nationals to attend ISU’s Space Studies Program (SSP). The goal is to attract talented Indian women who are post-graduate students with backgrounds in science, medicine, materials, satellite technology, and other space-related areas of focus, who also share Dr. Chawla’s selfless and passionate pursuit of education and excellence.

ISU’s 32nd annual SSP will be held in the Summer of 2020 in China. The scholarship opportunities with the International Space University our for the nine-week Space Studies Program and not for the one year Master’s program. The motivation behind this has to do with the challenge of how to generate the greatest impact in terms of resources and time. This is a historic moment to achieve an international impact with a few select, but a very talented group of Indian women postgraduate students. India will continue to play a key role on the international stage, as it moves forward towards leading the development of space technologies and activities. This scholarship is a commitment to creating the building blocks that are necessary for India to maintain its leadership in the global space and business communities.

The Space Studies Program (SSP) at International Space University is an intense two-month course for postgraduate students and professionals of all disciplines. The curriculum covers the principal space-related fields, both non-technical and technical and ranges from policy and law, business and management and humanities to life sciences, engineering, physical sciences and space applications. The shared experience of an international, interactive working environment is an ideal networking forum leading to the creation of an extensive, international, multidisciplinary professional network. Each year the SSP convenes in a different location around the world. Moving to a new city and country adds an exciting dynamic as well as new resources and expertise to the program.

We have successfully announced a scholarship for 7 girls/young women till the date since 2017, unfortunately, we need to cover up a little amount with the support of you all to make future scholars attend the SSP together. A little donation from your end can contribute towards this achievable goal. This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiasts in Space, professors, educators, researchers or anyone reading this to contribute towards changing the life of a talented girl!

We thank you for your time reading our request!
