Devastated by two CAT 5 hurricanes!

Hi everyone.  For the past 11 years I have lived on a very small island in Puerto Rico called Vieques. On Sept 6, 2017 hurricane Irma was a desvastating cat 5 hurricane which passed extremely close to Vieques at nearly 190mph and left our island and our property without any water, or electricity (the entire Puerto Rico electrical grid collapsed!).  Thirteen days later, Vieques was hit DIRECTLY by another destructive cat 5 hurricane, Maria with sustained winds of 225mph! This hurricane decimated Vieques! It left destruction in its path everywhere

and felled every single tree on the whole island ( very sad, the island looks like a war zone now).
 
My little family is trying to pick up the pieces and figure out how to move forward and how we will make money this season since we all rely HEAVILY on tourism for work. Needless to say, there won't be ANY tourism for at least 6-12 months!  This means we are now jobless.

We desperately need a high quality (7000-10,000 watts) gas generator in order to have electricity at home.  Experts are predicting electricity in Puerto Rico will be out for 6-12 months!  Having electricity for our house is the very first step to normalicy. We have some water damage to beds and furniture as well, which will need to be replaced, but the generator is more urgent right now.  Once the generator is bought and shipped from the USA to PR we will then start saving up for all of the gas we will need to power the generator. Gas lines have been hours long everyday but at least there is gas to buy! There will also be a need for money to help pay for food and pay bills since we lost our means of income.

We have a two year old son and a sweet doggy to provide for.  It is essential that we have the means to provide electricity for our house or we simply won't be able to live there anymore until the electrical grid is repaired and restored.  We also intend to help out the rest of my husband's family in Vieques by housing them in our home so that we may all have electricity.  Imagine living for weeks, months without lights at night, or a washing machine and fridge.  The intense Caribbean heat alone could be problematic without fans running.  Think mosquitoes!

If we could collect enough money for this generator, then we could return to our home and try our very best to pick up the pieces and start rebuilding our lives.
