We Love Willow Gillingham

For those of you that don't know, my sister Willow has had a pretty bad string of luck over the last several years; a serious car accident and then a workplace accident in which she was electrocuted.  In recent years, Willow has undergone several surgeries to repair damage to her leg from the car accident and her forearm/wrist from the electrocution - none of the surgeries have been particularly successful; she has now developed a serious pain disorder and experiences moderate to severe pain 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Recently Willow has been selected to be the recipient of a new cutting edge surgery and pain management strategy; an implant in the spine that blocks the neurological receptors and if successful will allow her to live a pain free life.  This is not without sacrifice; many of the things Willow has enjoyed most of her life, skiing, snowboarding, biking, golf, hockey etc. are no longer in her future.  Her new life will see calmer activities such as swimming and paddle boarding, but she at least will be pain free - the pros outweigh the cons.

Although Willow does get some support from WCB, my sister is currently without home and without job as she cannot work in her current condition, and is awaiting the surgery, hopefully within weeks.  After the surgery, Willow will require full time care for a minimum of 8 weeks.  There is a lot of stress and anxiety associated with what she is about to go through.  If you think you might be able to spare even a little to help Willow get through the next few months, she and our entire family would appreciate it so much.  We will also welcome simple well wishes and positive vibes coming our way.
