This is for all of Cindy’s friends, family, prayer warriors, supporters, and everyone else who wants to help.
Cindy is a single mom who was diagnosed with Microscopic Polyangiitis (MPA) 5 years ago. MPA is a form of vasculitis that can affect any organ in your body. For Cindy, it has caused problems with her lungs and her kidneys, causing renal failure. She has undergone many treatments over the past several years including chemotherapy and dialysis. Recently, she was also diagnosed with calciphylaxis.
Cindy underwent a new treatment protocol at the beginning of 2014. Shortly after that, what little kidney function she had was reduced to 0%. Her dialysis has been bumped up from twice a week to three times per week. Most recently they have started her on another dose of Rituxin (a form of chemotherapy) and an infusion treatment for the calciphylaxis three times a week. The doctors are working to get Cindy accepted for a kidney transplant wait list. However, it is a lengthy process, complicated by the combination of her different diagnosises. This lovely lady spends 5 out of 7 days either in hours of treatment, doctor offices or lab/x-ray facilities. New medications are very expensive, costing $1000-$2000 per month, out of pocket.
Although the disease and treatments would suck the life and energy out of any normal person, Cindy keeps going with a positive and happy attitude and she maintains an active role in her son’s life. Cindy has always made her son her #1 priority and has done an exceptional job as a single mom. Corey is an amazing young man who is graduating High School this year. He is Captain of his High School Water Polo team for the 2nd year. He has also been a part of the Jr Olympics for the last 2 years. Cindy has made it to every game possible, is Team Mom, and has encouraged and supported Corey in his dreams and aspirations from day one. She is by far Corey’s #1 Fan, sacrificing whatever is needed to get him where he needs to be.
With your help, Cindy will be able to focus on getting healthy, enjoy her son’s last year in High School, help him prepare for College and not have to worry about the financial stress of daily life. All donations are welcome!!!!
