Many of you have expressed your interest in helping Aiden, Randall and Linda in their upcoming treatment journey. We appreciate all the love, support, thoughts and prayers.
Just a few short weeks ago Aiden was your typical 9 year old boy, going to school, running around and playing football. Our mom, Linda, started noticing he was limping and not running during football practice so she scheduled a doctor’s appointment. At this appointment they were told Aiden had a possible malignant bone tumor, an MRI was scheduled, and he was referred to a specialist in Atlanta at Emory. The next week we learned that it was likely osteosarcoma. A few days later a biopsy was done and a port was placed. Before Aiden was even awake and in recovery the doctor had the results and our worst fear was confirmed. OSTEOSARCOMA.
In the next 40 weeks Aiden will undergo chemotherapy treatments and surgery to remove the affected parts of his tibia. He will have a procedure is called rotationplasty which will allow him to walk with a prosthetic and to be an active kid again. Aiden has a long road ahead of him, but he is in the best care at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Beginning September 18 they will start weekly trips to Atlanta with multiple night’s stays in the hospital. This journey will be long and costly, but together we can help ease the financial burden. Travel, gas, overnight stays and food will begin to add up quickly, especially with Linda taking time off of work. Aiden also has a younger brother Martin.
