Where is Henry??? I asked myself a while back. When our group first opened Henry was one of the few to join. Stayed active and became part of the growing gang. Time flew and Henry was unheard of, WHY??? Beats me, he probably got tired of us...lol.
6 Months later after no news from Henry, I see activity coming from Henry. I figured "Hey, Henry is back." Get in conversations, happy he's involved again. What Henry didn't tell us right away is where he was, until 3 days ago Feb. 12th.
Henry collided with an oncoming truck while at work. He broke both ankle s. His right leg had 2 breaks. Left leg was crushed with 5 breaks. Crushed pelvic bone. Broken hip. 10 broken ribs. Dislocated shoulder. Both lungs were collapsed. Ruptured spleen. Was revived twice. Ministered 30 units of blood. Ended up amputating half of right foot. Henry has spent 6 months in a wheel chair since his hip, legs and ankles are being held together with titanium rods and screws.
"But I'm good though, it might slow me down but it won't stop me," Henry told me after hearing all this. Henry is in therapy and plans to be back in his feet and working by May. Since he was in the hospital for so long he has lost his house, his wife had to move back home with family, and has a nice bill to cover at the hospital not even worth mentioning but one can imagine.
If anyone is having a bad day, give Henry a call he'll cheer you up. His opinion of life is one to admire. Henry has a strong heart and hasn't asked any of us for help. But let's face the facts help is needed. We, as a brotherhood must refuse to see a brother-fellow boom operator in need. $10,000 may not cover all his expenses but we will help relief hardship. Lets urge this call to action and show Henry we are with him, We Are Henry.
