Molly’s surgery

Donation protected

I am a social worker. It’s not uncommon to run into families financially struggling who can’t take care of their pets. I met Molly this way approximately 3 months ago. I learned that while loved, she was spending most her life tied to a chain in a dirt yard(not even grass). I immediately took Molly home and we bonded right away. Molly is the best dog my family has ever had. She’s gently, calm and loving. I intended to utilize Molly as a therapy dog for patients as I work toward obtaining my therapy license. Little did I know Molly would quickly become my very own personal emotional support dog.

When Molly came to us, she was extremely obese. I knew I had some work to do to get her to a
healthy weight. With change of diet and increase
of exercise she began to run and play like a puppy! Her energy increased and she worked her way
even further into our hearts. As she continued to
lose weight however, her belly seemed to get
bigger. I took her to the vet and xrays were done. 2 vets have now confirmed Molly has an enormous mass in her belly that is touching all of her organs
and the surgery to remove it is complicated. In factonly one vet is willing to take this surgery on but
feels if successful, Molly could live many years.
without the surgery, it may be weeks before Molly’s mass erupts and we’ll find her gone. One vet evensaid maybe 2 weeks. The heartbreaking part of all of this is that that mass has been there a long time. The previous owner knew and did nothing.

With only one vet willing to do the surgery, we are limited and we’re given the price tag of
$6,000-$10,000 to save Molly’s life.

Due to the amount of money required, I’ve researched organizations to help but most are for low income families. I do not pretend to be struggling financially. I am more than blessed. However, that kind
of expense is a bit out of my reach.

While I would do anything for her. taking on that kind of expense would devastate my family
financially. If you have it in your heart to help,
please donate. Molly doesn’t have much time.
