Tina's Turn to Heal

Donation protected
My oldest sister, Tina, was diagnosed with a rare type of breast cancer last November. I’d never heard of this specific type before, and doctors that specialize in treating it have never before seen the 90% growth rate that’s she’s experienced.  To say that this news came as a complete shock to my family and I, would be a huge understatement.

It was only a month prior that we were celebrating my dad’s 70th birthday in the Poconos, and what Tina thought was an innocent, benign lump, turned out to be a small tumor that rapidly grew to the size of a plum within a few short weeks.

This type of breast cancer affects 10-15% of women and is considered to be more aggressive than other types. There are only a limited amount of treatment plans due to its rare nature, as it’s a higher grade cancer, grading 3 on a scale of 1-3. Most women with this cancer have a 10-50% growth rate - meaning the rate at which the cancer can multiply and grow back. My sister has a 90% growth rate, which is unheard of.

That being said, Tina is young, vibrant and beautiful. She’s dedicated the last two decades of her life to helping others live with less stress, more joy and peace. She’s a spiritual teacher, healer and leader who’s taught healing courses and modalities all over the world, and lives a completely holistic lifestyle.

She wanted to try and heal her cancer solely through eastern and holistic medicine, but her diagnosis is too severe to not undergo chemotherapy. When she first discovered the lump, she had a laser lumpectomy, and after learning of her diagnosis, underwent a mastectomy a month later. She just started chemotherapy last month which is a five month journey to recovery, and she's also doing physical therapy for the side effects of the mastectomy, which include a frozen shoulder and chronic pain.

Between her two surgeries, conventional and holistic treatments, as well as physical therapy, her bills are becoming a large burden to carry, on top of everything else that so suddenly crept into her life. Most holistic treatments aren’t covered by insurance, and are just as expensive as western medicine. Some of the cost of her surgeries are also being denied by her insurance company.

My family and I are an amazing support system who will forever stand by each other’s sides and lift one another up when we’re undergoing hardships. We’re doing the best we can to support Tina financially, emotionally and physically, but as there’s a long road ahead for her to be completely healed, we are asking for the support of our family and friends.

We know that this part of Tina’s life story is certainly unexpected and scary, but we trust that she will come out on the other side of this, not only healed, but stronger, wiser and with more insight into living life with purpose than others who haven’t endured her struggles.

If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, we would greatly appreciate your support. Any dollar amount donation will go a long way to help pay for Tina’s healing.

If you’re unable to offer a monetary donation, we ask that you keep Tina in your prayers and hold her in positive and loving thoughts - imagine that she’s already healed and in complete vital health.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and with sincerest love and gratitude, we send you love for your generosity, thoughts and prayers.
