is a St. Louis-based Internet radio station with a mission to promote the Catholic spiritual journey through quality Catholic programming.
The station was launched by Sebastian Mahfood, Bob Olson, and Ronda Chervin in October, 2016, as an en-air branch of En Route Books & Media
for the purpose of advancing the themes of its Catholic academic, spiritual, and children's books and for promoting the mission of Holy Apostles College & Seminary
in Cromwell, CT, which is namely to cultivate missionary disciples for the purpose of evangelization.
On October 7, 2016, the first show called The Open Door aired live to a handful of listeners, and at the beginning of its third year in operation, the station now hosts, with the assistance of its core team of Sebastian Mahfood, Carlos Bersabe, Pat Flynn, Luca Stucchi, and Ronda Chervin, over 40 shows a week, many of which are syndicated on iHeart Radio, Spotify, iTunes, Catholic Life International, and other popular media sites.
The year 2019 will see a greater expansion of the radio station in terms of status (it's pursuing 501(c)3), in terms of outreach (it's pursuing a stronger global presence with shows produced in Tanzania, Italy, and Australia, Vietnam, England, Canada, and elsewhere), and in terms of partnerships in the Catholic world (it's partnering with Seminary Journal to interview Catholic formators, vocation directors and bishops in US seminaries and sending dioceses, with the Newman Guide catholic colleges to interview undergraduate and graduate faculty and students around the country), and with the religious orders and institutes to interview the full range of our Catholic spirituality). WCAT Radio will also grow its print media by continuing to convert its radio programming into print books using an online transcription service and En Route's editorial staff.
We need your help to grow according to this plan - friend us and fund us! Your contribution of a few dollars during this time will help move our community of four dozen show hosts toward our goal of resourcing and networking our Catholic world.
