Saving Magoo

On August 15th, Magoo had emergency surgery to repair a perforated intestine.

I gave him a frozen raw beef marrow bone with the good intentions of helping to remove tartar from his teeth. A shard must have broken off and he swallowed it. As it travelled through his GI tract, it perforated his small intestine.

His surgery seemed to be a success and he was healing well until 7:40 PM (EST) on August 25th when he was rushed to emergency where X-rays show peritonitis as a complication from the original surgery. This could be fatal if left untreated. 

He’s on Gabapentin for pain, Metronidazole antibiotic, Losec antacid and Sulcrate to coat and protect his stomach. 

He will have a consultation at our regular regular vet tomorrow. 

There’s a slim chance the X-ray could be showing residual swelling from the original surgery but likely it’s peritonitis and he needs a second surgery to address the infection more aggressively. I don’t know how much the next steps will cost but I’m hoping for some help to help me “say yes” to Magoo and give him the care he needs and deserves.

I know there are loads of good causes out there and Magoo is just my dog but he’s the world to me and I’d be grateful for even just a small amount. 

I wouldn’t be asking except I’ve already covered the cost of his cancer treatment (2016) and the August 15th procedure ($4,776.68 CAD). I have no money left for what might come and I’m not even sure what it will cost. 

I’m including his most recent vet bills as a rough estimate of what might come tomorrow.
