Watson the Wonder-Dog Needs Surgery
2020 has been a rough one.
To top off Covid closures, job loss, school changes for Link (who is 8 now), Watson managed to give himself cruciate tears in both of his hind legs. The link explains everything, but basically it is a very panful ligament condition similar to when a person tears their ACL. He got his radiographs done today, and the news was not good.
Watson is more than just a pet. He serves as Kaz's epilepsy alert dog. Not only warning when they are going to have an episode, but he has also alerted the shop on several occasions of children and guests in medical distress. His daily job is that of an emotional support animal for the family and the kids at the Excelsior Lounge. He is a sweet, gentle, baby who see's everyone as HIS human. He is really just the goodest boy, and I know everyone says that about their dog, but I mean it.
But, in everything, he managed to hurt himself. And, with everything, finances are not where they would normally be and this injury is greatly affecting his quality of life and ability to do his work.
We are reaching out to several animal hospitals in New England, looking at an estimate of about $8000 to repair ONE leg. There is a very high change his left leg will also need work, but we are waiting to get confirmation there. Because of the current lack of revenue, we can not get CareCredit approved, so a payment plan is extremely unlikely. Watson not only makes it possible for Kaz to do her day to day work with less worry about an unexpected seizure, but is an extremely important part of Link's home life, Kaz's best friend, and an important part of the Excelsior community. Anything that you can do to help us get him back on his feet would mean the absolute world.
