Waters Quartet - Support BIPOC & Women Composers

Waters Quartet is a Memphis based strings ensemble whose mission is to perform works by black, indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) and women composers. Named after our beloved friend, Christopher Waters, a violist, educator and pillar of the music community, we aim to continue his legacy of performance and education in Memphis and the surrounding area. We look forward to collaborating with musicians of color and arts organizations that support BIPOC and women in classical music.
Your Donation will enable us to purchase sheet music in order to build a library of works by (which will in turn financially support) BIPOC and women composers as well as fund other operating costs (i.e. performance spaces, equipment for quality virtual performances (the new norm) and hiring musicians to collaborate with us on larger pieces.
About us:
Tamar Love, cellist, received her bachelor and master's degrees in performance from Middle Tennessee State University. She has taught strings and Orff over the past 15 years. She currently teaches orchestra and piano at Kingsbury High School and performs in various ensembles in and around Memphis.
Tamatha M. Holt was formerly the Orff Music Specialist, String Orchestra Director, and CAPA Chorus Director at Rozelle Creative and Performing Arts Elementary School. Mrs. Holt received formal training in music starting at the age of 5 on violin, eventually added viola and piano. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Louisiana State University, and a Master of Music from Rutgers University. She is currently a professional musician and performs regularly in the Memphis community and surrounding regions.
Priscilla Tsai is a Taiwanese American violinist that grew up in Boston. She started playing violin at age 8. She enjoys teaching students of all ages and continuing her own development as a violinist. She loves the violin because of its potential as a tool to develop and grow each individual’s mind and soul. Teachers that have shaped her heart and playing include Kyung Sun Lee, Mikyung Kim, Laurie Smukler, Soh-hyun Altino and Joy Brown Wiener. She currently lives in Memphis with her husband Jordan Musgrave and their 3 dogs.
Bianca Balderama is a local Memphis violinist. She graduated with a double masters in violin performance and musicology in 2016, and has been working as a teaching artist with Memphis Music Initiative since 2018, as well as freelancing, performing with regional orchestras, and teaching her private studio. When not performing, she enjoys reading, German translation, and finding ridiculous hats for her Yorkie.
