Watercolors of extinct pigments
Hi! My name is Laurens, I’m a father of twin girls, an arts teacher and paint maker from the Netherlands.
I started making watercolor paint a year ago and while making these, I developed a fascination of all these beautiful pigments and their properties.
As I learned more and more about these pigments, I also found out that some colors aren’t available anymore. These pigments aren’t produced anymore and so the paints that contained these got extinct.
I started this GoFundMe to help me on my journey in the search of finding and purchasing extinct pigments to make them into (watercolor) paint again! Like Quinacridone Gold and Ultramarine Green!
I think watercolors are the perfect art medium to show all the special and beautiful properties each pigment has to offer! I tell my four year old twin daughters about colors and how you can use them. They love exploring colors and mixing them to make their own news ones. But some colors and mostly their unique ways of acting on paper (like transparency, staining, granulation and tinting strength), just can't be mixed.
I know there are some of these pigments left out there, waiting for someone to use. My goal would be to find them, make them into paint and show my girls, and the rest of the world what
When I reach my goal:
Every donation above €7,50 will receive a 15% discount code for my Etsy Shop (big update coming soon).
Everyone who donates €25 or more will receive one dot card of al my colors made with these extinct and rare pigments.
Everyone who donates €50 or more will receive two quarter pans of choice and one dot card of all my colors made with these extinct and rare pigments.
The goal is set as a starting budget to be able to find and purchase the pigments and make them into watercolors.
I also want to include modern, rare or unusual colors that are really hard to find in handmade or commercial paints and to be able share these with more people.
The tiers are not including shipping costs, I will communicate about this when my goal is reached.
As a paint maker I can be found as DirtyBlueShop on social media but mainly Instagram.
