Waste Land Fundraiser

The Waste Land artists want to create a meaningful and magical experience in Victoria and we need your help doing it! We have been working hard to turn a pre-demolition house into a pop-up community art space where we can celebrate the present while sharing anxieties about our planet's future. 

This project was conceived of by Kay Gallivan and Kate Brooks-Heinimann, two future high school educators studying at the University of Victoria who quickly connected over their shared passion for art. We were working with students at Esquimalt High School who were interested in exploring their thoughts on climate change and mental health, and we wanted to help them express themselves beyond the school walls. So began an experiment in a community-integrated approach to high school education that is Waste Land. 

Aryze Development has collaborated with us by providing the house and covering some critical costs, but in order to make this event unforgettable we need more support. Over 30 artists have contributed their energy and talent to this project and we deeply believe in compensating them as best we can because we know they deserve it. We would love to illuminate our haunted house with spooky cinematic lighting, document the project professionally so we can share it with the world, and fill the space with music and workshops. We need your help to make Waste Land as spine-chilling and thought-provoking as possible!
