Warrior Zac and his parents April and Kiel

Zac was born at 37 weeks to April and Kiel. Zac was born with a very rare genetic disorder that prevents the body from building strong bones, Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) also known as Brittle Bones. Zac was born with a more severe type of OI which also effects the development of his lungs. 

Zac has remained in hospital since his birth and has been intubation on a number of occasions. He has transferred from the Gold Hospital to the Queensland Children's Hospital. 

Sadly, April and Kiel learned Zac is palliative. His OI mutation has only been documented in 3 other babies worldwide. Unfortunately, those bubs have not survived. As Zac has a more rare type of OI there is not much known on the available treatment. And amidst of their own grief, April and Kiel have agreed to participate in research, to help the next family. Zac is already leaving his mark in this world. Even if it's for a short period of time, it's invaluable!!

I started this Go Fund Me as I know first hand what it's like being in hospital for an extend time with your bub. Like me, April is not an Australian, but one that fell in love with one and started a family here millions miles away from her own. It is hard being away from family and away from the comforts of home. 

I want to help make April and Kiel's hospital stay with Zac a little bit nicer. Let them focus all their energy on Zac. Their parenthood journey has been heartbreaking and I just want to help where I can. 

Funds raised will help pay for meals, snacks and the much needed coffee to help them get through the long days and nights.
