Welcome to our 'Gofundme'!
My name is Carrie and together with my big brother Kevin, we are trying really hard to raise much needed funds for Ward 43 of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. Were not just 'asking' for money, were going to work for it! On Monday 30th April 2018, we will set off early doors from Fife to Milngavie by train and from there, we will start the West Highland Way! We WILL complete all 96 miles and finish up in Fort William. Both of us have taken 2 weeks off work and have never done anything like this before so we have 2 weeks to complete this...roughing it in the wild with a tent...
Our decision to do something so extreme is all because of our lovely Mum, Linda Miller. Our mum has been through a horrendous journey with her health and its all down to the respiratory ward (ward 43) that she is still with us today. We don't know how much longer we have her for and we dont know if she will even make it to see her only son and daughter complete this adventure but we hope and pray that she will, shes so very proud of us both. In 2015, she was placed in a coma to recover from pneumonia, one month later, she had her feeding tube removed and started to eat again, a month after that, she had learned to walk again and a month after that...she came home. She has battled to stay with us ever since and we owe the hospital everything for keeping her with us. Unfortunatly she is now on Palliative Care but every day she continues to smile for us all. She has COPD and every other health problem that comes along with it in the final stages of this terminal illness. The hospital that cares for her needs more equipment. They need physio equipment, comodes, fans, more than just the basics. All patients who are admitted to this ward will benefit from your donation. If my big brother and I can give something back, no matter how little and with the help of your donations, we would be forever grateful. We dont know how much longer we have left with her but every day is a blessing and our impending adventure is keeping us going. Its a personal journey for us both and one that we are going to treasure for the rest of our lives. We just want to help. Thankyou x
