Walters Therapy Dog

Hello friends and family- 
 
Kimberly and I have decided that we are going to attempt something that we have never done before… and that is to raise funds for something that we believe would be a huge and beneficial blessings to our 16 year old daughter, Bre.  As most of you know, Bre has been in out-of-home placement for these past 2.5 years, receiving a very high level of 24/7 medical and therapeutic professional care. Over that time, many of you have written to her, have welcomed her home with open arms during her home visits, and most importantly have been faithfully lifting her up in prayer.  And for all of that, we say THANK YOU!  Bre has come sooooo far, and we are so incredibly proud of her!  That said, as we look to her soon transitioning back into a normal home/family life, we know that there will indeed be challenges, not only with the new “normal”, but also with the launch into adulthood that lies right around the corner.  This will be a very critical stage in her life, one that will launch her in one of two directions…

So, why the fundraising?  Well, for some time now, it has been on our hearts to provide Bre with a therapy/service dog.  It has been our prayer that the Lord would swing open a door to just the right dog and trainer… a trainer that would have a deep understanding of Bre’s needs, and a LOT of experience in preparing and training a dog that would become a best friend/companion/support to Bre.  A dog that would know Bre’s every emotion and would be highly trained to come alongside her and support her when her emotions or world feel upside down.  A dog that would be trained to alert others, when something is not quite right and needs attention. Basically, a “BFF” that will be by her side almost 24/7 and know her like the back of his paw :)  Well, the Lord seems to have opened a door that presents us with the dog and trainer of our prayers.  In faith, we have decided to walk through the door that we believe the Lord has opened… and now that we have done that, we find ourselves with a new prayer, and that would be for the finances needed to provide Bre with this type of therapy dog.  I’ll be perfectly honest, when we first received the initial cost estimate of $20k, we almost choked and ran.  Thankfully, we serve a bigger God than that, and He saw fit to calm our hearts and then put it on our hearts to reach out to His family with this very real need.

As the main avenue to meeting this need, we have decided to open a GoFundMe account and trust the Lord to put this need on the hearts of His people.  We realize that the original desire was planted in our hearts by the Lord, that He has clearly brought to us an opportunity that we did not solicit, and that He will continue to provide as only He can.

We humbly ask that you would prayerfully consider helping us reach our goal of $20,000.  If you decide or sense the Lord nudging you to partner with us, we would be forever grateful.
