Walpole, NH-Roland & Maureen Caskin's fundraiser
On the evening of July 29th, as 5+ inches of rain fell in the Monadnock region, washing out roads and driveways, a wall of water washed a portion of the foundation of Roland and Maureen Caskin’s home of more than 60 years, leaving 3 feet of water in the basement and the house uninhabitable. The damages to the home include a large portion of the foundation crumbling, loss of living space and personal belongings, loss of the furnace, electrical damage, professional clean up of 3 feet of mud and silt, and a completely impassable driveway.
Roland and Maureen are in their mid 80’s, and have been living with family since the flood. The damages to their home exceed $60,000. Their insurance company has denied the claim on the basis of an “act of God.” They are not eligible for support from FEMA, the State of New Hampshire or the Town of Walpole. As you can imagine, this is an extreme hardship for a retired couple on a fixed income.
Walpole is a generous community and has come through in the past to help those in need. Let’s put Roland and Maureen back in their home.
