Walk For Wellness
Tax deductible
Seniors at High Tech High Chula Vista are working on a semester long project associated with the United Nations of San Diego. Currently in San Diego we have a large Hepatitis A breakout which has affected hundreds of homeless individuals and the community nearby. With a normal average of 3,000 cases a year nationwide, this number has increased to 517 cases alone in San Diego. Along with two other students we have been focusing on 1 of the 17 UN Sustainable Goals which is good health and well being. There is a lack of education amongst the community regarding sanitation, and only minimal resources for hygienic practice amongst the homeless community. There is an urgent need for additional funds to target this breakout. We are holding a Walk for Wellness at Rohr Park in Bonita on December 9th from 8:30 - 11:00 am. This entails individuals raising money, with a minimum participation donation of $25 (which you can donate here on gofundme or directly at our event. ) If you are unable to attend our event you can donate any amount on gofund me. A $10 donation will provide one care kit for the homeless. Our goal is to supply the homeless with 200 care kits, which will be distributed in San Diego. We are partnered with Homeaid San Diego which is a non- profit organization designed to serve the homeless with housing and additional needs. Moving forward as high school students the medical field is a passion of ours and with this project we are equipping ourselves to understand a more holistic view of medicine.
