Dereack Walker is a father, son, brother and uncle. He is the sixth of seven children born to Willie and Estella Walker of Tifton, GA. Dereack’s father served faithfully for over 35 years as a police officer for the City of Tifton rising to the rank of Captain. On June 13, 2019 after a long hospital stay, Dereack was diagnosed with a very rare form of brain cancer called Glioblastoma. The prognosis for this disease is grim, without treatment it is 6 months or less and with treatment, radiation and chemotherapy, it stretches to only 15 months.
His parents currently have to pay for his care and medication out of pocket. There is a clinical trial specifically available for the cancer he has, at Emory University. However his parents are unable to cover the cost of that trial. Dereack’s parents, as well as with the help of his older siblings, are driving him back and forth from Thomasville, Georgia so that he can receive treatment. Any help received is greatly appreciated whether it’s prayer, monetary, gift cards, gas cards anything you do is very generous.
