Walk Around Ireland for St John Ambulance
Donation protected
During the month of May members of Larne Netball Club have decided to “Walk Around Ireland”, to raise money for St John Ambulance.
As a community Larne gave our netball club the support it needed to re-establish itself after several years apart. So now we could like to give something back to the community.
As a club we are aiming to walk/cycle/run/swim around the coastline of Ireland in just 31 days.
This equates to:
3️⃣,1️⃣7️⃣1️⃣ km
1️⃣,9️⃣7️⃣1️⃣ miles
4️⃣,9️⃣2️⃣4️⃣,2️⃣5️⃣0️⃣steps
In return for completing this challenge we are asking those who can spare any spare little or large, to donate it to our GoFundMe page.
We have set ourselves an initial target of raising £1000 for the worthy cause, and all the money raised through this challenge will be given to St John Ambulance Larne, and the central St John Ambulance team.
St John Ambulance is a well know charity throughout Northern Ireland and especially Larne town.
Since 16th March the Larne unit has been able to cover 2️⃣2️⃣ shifts, totalling 1️⃣7️⃣3️⃣ hours of volunteering. The volunteers could have to work 6️⃣days a week, and 8️⃣hours per day in situations some of us could never imagine working in.
The NHS pay the charity per shift although this money pays for equipment, fuel and upkeep of the ambulances, the members and volunteers are not paid anything.
Any donation given goes back into the Larne unit to replace the supplies and equipment needed to support the Larne community.
As the volunteers for St John Ambulance continuously put themselves in often unknown and challenging situations, we as a netball club feel we should challenge ourselves. ♀️♀️♀️
We will post regularly to show the progress of our club and where there are in their journey around the island.
If you have any questions about Larne Netball Club, the challenge or St John Ambulance please just drop us a message.
Thanks,
Larne Netball Team
